LAKE WINNIBIGOSHISH has the magical history of being one of the top walleye waters on  opening day for the spring walleye. To be successful you have to prepare yourself with knowledge such as ice-out, water temperature and wind direction. Call the Cass Lake Area Civic and  Commerce at 1-800-356-8615 to be put in contact with the best locations for spring fishing.  Lake Winnie is also host to a walleye fish hatchery. Mid-summer fishing by yourself or with a guide will net you catches of walleye, northern and perch. From September until freeze-up it is not rare for a good jig fisherman to catch and release 60 or more walleyes a day, along with  lots of big perch and plenty of northern pike action.
