Less than one week until the 2008 fishing opener.  The lack of spring weather has hindered us a bit in our preparations for opener, but with warmer temps forecast for for the next week will help us to be ready.

The ice finally disappeared from Big Rice Lake on May 2. Many other lakes in the area still have some ice cover at this time. At Hide Out Resort, the boat launch is ready and open water is plentiful.

New for 2008:  We have added wireless network access at this time in and around the lodge area.  The range of this service will depend on your equipment and ours and will be “tweaked” as needed. We have also done some cleanup on our hiking trails throughout the property. We will continue to groom these trails as spring arrives and we are able to do so. 

A reminder to all of our guests that Beltrami County is now “smoke free” in all public places.  This includes all motel rooms and resort cabins as well as all restaurants and other public places. This includes the lodge and all cabins at Hide Out Resort. Smoking will be permitted outside only.  Thanks for your cooperation.

The 2008 availability calendars are posted and will be updated as we receive reservations for the 2008 season.  Please note: Our check in time has been changed to “AFTER 4 P.M.”.  Please plan to arrive after this time.  We will not be allowing access to any cabins before 4 P.M.  Our Saturdays are very busy and we need this entire time period to prepare the cabins, boats and grounds for your stay.

We would like to mention that we have retained our status as agents for the DNR in the sale of fishing and hunting licenses.  You may purchase both resident and nonresident fishing and hunting licenses in our lodge upon your arrival. We also carry a good selection of fresh live bait for your fishing needs.  We will also try to accommodate any “special requests” for bait if we receive notification in advance. As before, we also have gas and oil for your outboard motors, snacks, beverages, pizza, ice cream treats and Hide Out Resort caps, sweatshirts and T-shirts available in our lodge.

 We have 3 pedal boats now available at the resort for guests to use. It is great to see so many people enjoying these pedal boats each season. They even served as a good fishing vehicle for several of the younger guests.  These are available for use at no charge..
